@BintuGomes said in Basic veyon setup: lab. They should all be running Windows except the server which will likely be a linux box acting as a Windows server. I am planning on adding veyon. I have never used it before and would like some pointers just to think about it correctly when i read how to set it up. Basically, where does it get setup, and how does the teacher view it. 토토사이트 I am assuming the server gets set up on the server, the client on every machine including the teacher's, and somehow the teacher can be designated as such to control it. Is that correct? Also, i figure it would be best on a second monitor (if her computer supports it; i have not seen the computers yet) to be dedicated to viewing the students screens. Is this correct? Thank you my issue has been solved,...

Hi @rino13 Veyon works fine in environments without AD. You can use the the builtin directory to store computer and location information in the local configuration. You mainly have to install the Veyon Service on all computers and make sure a authentication method is set up properly. Managing profiles or user data is beyond the scope of Veyon.

@Helsinki said in Veyon Users - Need a little help with setup: Hello everyone,, I've finally got the program working on a few test machines using LDAP but I can't find some info for deploying the software and settings I would like. I'm deploying it via SCCM: veyon-4.0.4.0-win64-setup.exe /S It's silent installing but I would like to only install the service, not the master on lab machines. Is there a switch to do this? I would also like to have the tray icon hid on install but don't see anywhere to set that option or deploy a config for them. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Thankyou my issue has been solved...

Hi @Nigan you don't have to install anything on your server so things are not that complicated Instead you need to install Veyon on both the teacher and the student computers. On student computers you can omit the Veyon Master component. Please see https://docs.veyon.io/en/latest/admin/installation.html and various tutorial videos on Youtube for basic information on how to install and setup Veyon.

Hi @aramostabai , SSO is currently not supported. You can add an unprivileged domain user which only is allowed to read the required LDAP/AD objects.

Hi @ronneymiguels you can install Veyon on Ubuntu easily using the PPA at https://launchpad.net/~veyon/+archive/ubuntu/stable/

@Gabrial said in Anyone using Veyon for computer labs? Pros/Cons, alternatives?: DeepFreeze I think Veyon works well in an educational lab. That is what I use it for. It doesn't matter if you don't have LADP, you can still use it; all of my networks are AD free too. After install, just run Veyon-Configurator, and there is a section called "LADP Basic". Just leave all those settings as they are; don't add anything. There is also a section called "Computers and Rooms", here you should type in all the info for each computer in the network. Then, with Veyon, you can monitor all the machines, lock all the machines, and shut down all the machines. This is all easy to do. Then as you learn Veyon, you can try the other features. Sorry I can't answer your second question. perhaps some other forum would be better for that.
