    Hi,

In our case, the PCs in the classroom acquire a DHCP addresses to the network. So, fixed IP-Address into the account will require changing all the PCs to have one.

Also, I don't think it is a VLAN issue for us. The environment has not changed and it was going to v4.1.2 from v4.0.7 that the 'Power on' no longer works. I tried re-installing some clients to make sure there wasn't a 'hiccup'. But still no joy.

    Thank you.

    Hi @vv01f
welcome to Veyon! Veyon's capabilities in regarding BOYD are currently rather limited. You can however configure the service to always ask the user for permission whenever a teacher or other person tries to access his desktop/device. This can be implemented easily through access control rules, see https://docs.veyon.io/en/latest/admin/access-control-rules.html for details.

Great Thanks - That fixed it apart from the VERY first remote session I open doesn't seem to get its name properly, subsequent ones work just fine.

In Veyon 4.1 you can even predefine websites so users do not have to enter URLs manually everytime 😉

Cheers for the reply and the information Toby.

Not a problem at all. I understand that you don't have the unlimited resources that other software developers are blessed with. Which is why you deserve massive credit for what you've created and continue to improve on so far.

I'll let anybody I know who has some experience with C++ about Veyon and hopefully they may be able to help in anyway.

    Hi @uhhuser
of course you can simply disable the systemd unit veyon-service and run veyon-server from whatever start script is suitable in your environment (Xsetup, XDG autostart etc.). You'll however will not benefit from the integrated service management functionalities as well as multi-session support.

    Hello @pjmolina
even though we do not (yet) provide pre-compiled 32 bit packages this doesn't mean Veyon doesn't work on 32 bit 😉 You can simply build packages for your platform and distribution on your own as described in the README file.

@dorian Please try Veyon 4.1 Beta which has builtin systemd support and thus starts the service automatically for graphical user sessions. The 4.1 Beta packages are already available for Ubuntu 18.04.

Hi @tonypace Veyon should work on all of your machines but for the 32 bit machines you'll have to build binary packages on your own - see https://github.com/veyon/veyon/blob/master/README.md for details 😉

On your modern x64 machines you can use the binary package provided for Ubuntu 18.04 (when using Veyon 4.1 Beta which I suggest for new installations).

Veyon Master might consume lots of RAM depending on how many computers you are monitoring so if you're running many other applications in parallel 2 GB might not be sufficient.

Hi @rbaca - did you take a look at our admin manual at htts://docs.veyon.io ? It describes all the fundamentals. On Linux please download the suitable binary package for your Linux distribution and install it. Afterwards you'll likely have to run "apt-get -f install" which will install all missing dependencies (repositories for easy installation are being worked on). If you install Veyon 4.1 Beta you have automatic service integration and do not need to add the Veyon Service to autostart (which is required for Veyon 4.0 - see INSTALL file for details).
