Subject: Feedback and Improvement Suggestions for Windowed Demo Mode
-
Dear Veyon Development Team,
First of all, thank you for the significant improvements in Veyon 4.11.4. In our classroom environment, demo mode performance and stability have improved noticeably compared to 4.10.4, especially when broadcasting a student's screen to the entire class.
During testing of Window Demo Mode, I noticed a few usability issues and possible bugs that I would like to report.
- Configurable Initial Demo Window Size
When starting a window demo, the default demo window is quite large on client computers.
It would be helpful if administrators could configure the initial size of the demo window, for example:
- Remember last used size
- Fixed width and height
- Percentage of screen size
This would reduce the need for students to resize the window manually.
- Improve Resizing Behavior
The demo window can be resized by students, which is useful.
However, when the window becomes smaller, black areas appear because the displayed content appears to maintain a fixed aspect ratio.
Possible improvements could include:
- Automatic aspect ratio management
- Better scaling behavior
- Optional "Fit to Window" mode
to provide a more natural user experience.
- Window Size Is Reset During Screen Updates (Possible Bug)
This appears to be a bug.
Steps to reproduce:
- Start a Window Demo.
- On a client computer, resize the demo window to a smaller size.
- Perform activity on the source computer (move windows, open applications, etc.).
- After the screen updates, the demo window on the client computer is automatically restored to its original size.
Expected behavior:
The window size and position selected by the user should remain unchanged until the user modifies them.
Observed behavior:
The demo window may revert to its original default size after updated content is received from the source computer.
Additional observation (Positive aspects of the current implementation):
- The demo window cannot be closed by students.
- The demo window can be moved and resized.
- Mouse and keyboard input remain available.
- Students can continue working and launch applications while viewing the demo.
Overall, Window Demo Mode is very useful for classroom exercises because students can watch demonstrations while continuing their own work. These improvements would make the feature even more practical in educational environments.
Thank you for your work on Veyon.
Best regards,
Veyon User
