Ubuntu 24.04 - Official Veyon 4.9.5 - unreachable on login (lightdm)
-
Hello
I've installed Veyon on computers in a classroom on Ubuntu 24.04 station through the veyon PPA
So, I've got the latest veyon version available to me
used the configurator to enter all LDAP information to have correct credentials, everything works fine
My only problem is the login screen
A soon as a student is logged in, I can see his screen in Veyon Master.
But I can not see the login window.
No problem... I thought ... I can launch veyon service inside lightdm
I just added the following config in
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/60-veyon.conf:[Seat:*] # # On vérifie la présence de l'exécutable pour éviter le crash de LightDM greeter-setup-script=/bin/sh -c 'sleep 5; [ -x /usr/bin/veyon-server ] && /usr/bin/veyon-server &'Great ! it works, I can now see login screens. Except that ... as soon as a student logs in, veyon-workers spaw continuously, consuming all xscokets. The computer becomes almost unusable.
As of now, my main question is to understand why the service launches the server for sessions but not for lightdm-gtk-greeter
If there is no workaround, I'm wondering if I can kill veyon-server on session-setup-script to ensure I have no zombie server
Any thought welcome !
