Remote control at logon screen lags by 20 seconds

This is a weird one. When a student computer is at the logon screen and I (the teacher) click the computer in Veyon and select "remote control", there is significant lag. Like, 20 seconds after I click on the screen of the student computer in Veyon, it responds.
The weird thing is that this does NOT happen when a user is logged in. While a student is using the computer, I can click "remote control" on the computer and instantly connect. This only started happening in the last few weeks.
I'm using the latest version (4.8.3 at the time of writing) on both the student computer and my computer. Windows 10 21H2 on both computers. Domain joined, on a school network. Been using Veyon for 8+ years with no issues. Nothing with networking has changed recently.

My issue is similar - the screen refresh is slow enough to watch it crawl down the screen. That's when connecting to a variety of different systems. Other means of connecting to them - Dameware, RDP, etc - act normally.
