hostname no longer works after upgrading to Windows 10

After updating to windows 10 from windows 7 I can no longer add an computer using the computers hostname i have to use the computers ip address and the problem Is that computers ip address will change and then it will lose connection is there any reason this is happening and is there any way to get it back to working with hostnames

I have tryed to add the domain after the hostname but I still get the same error
