    Hi everyone,

First of all, thanks for the great work on Veyon and the Internet Access Control AddOn! We really appreciate having this functionality available.

We have been looking into the different Start Behavior options (Restore internet access, Block internet access, Retain previous state), and we've noticed a few situations where none of the options seems ideal for our use case.

Currently, we have configured "Restore internet access", but this comes with two drawbacks:

    • If a student restarts their computer while internet access is blocked by the teacher, internet access is restored after the reboot.

    • If a computer is turned on only after the teacher has activated internet blocking, that computer won't be blocked either.

On the other hand, using "Retain previous state" creates the opposite problem:

    • list itemIf the teacher restores internet access while some computers are turned off, those computers will still be blocked when they are turned on again, since they retain their previous state.

An idea for a possible improvement:

Would it be possible to introduce an additional start behavior where the client checks the current internet access state with the teacher's computer (or another central component) when starting up?

This way, computers would automatically follow the current state set by the teacher, regardless of whether they were restarted or turned on later.

Of course, we understand that this might not be straightforward to implement, and there may be technical limitations we're not aware of. We just wanted to share the idea, as we think it could be useful in classroom environments.

Maybe there's already a way to achieve something similar that we've overlooked?

Thanks again for all the work that goes into Veyon! We'd be happy to hear your thoughts. 🙂
