Veyon master on Zorin LInux: Authentication Impossible (with keys)

Hi

I'm running veyon on zorin with linux focal
veyon version instaled 4.7.4.1
after configuring veyon configuration to use keys (private and public), I'm not able to login to veyon master
I get an error that says something like:
Authentication Impossible:
the keys are not present or our outdated, please create new keys... something something..

notes:

1. it was working fine previously on zorin linux and same keys are still working fine under windows 7 (I have a dual boot setup with 15 computers also with doal boot. only on veyon master in linux I get the problem, on the same master computer under windows 7, keys and clients with veyon work fine.
2. the keys were imported (both public and private) and when tested in configurator they work fine.
3. I have even created new keys but the problem persists, same error after reinstarting service and all.
4. I have reset configuraiton manually and using the file > reset configuration but nothing.

I'm guessing possibly a permission issue keeping the logged user (an admin /sudoer account or a teacher account) from having veyon be able to read keys?
