    Hi all,

at first, this tool seems to be awesome. I'm testing it in preparation for a roll-out in real school environment. So far I got everything to work, except:

    • locking the screens does not work properly (keyboard is locked, but there is no lock screen and pointer device (mouse) is still working, so I can still open Firefox and watch websites
    • keyboard is locked, but if I disconnect keyboard and reconnect it, it is working although lock feature is still engaged
    • Demo feature with full screen is not working (related to lock screen I assume?), but Demo feature in a window is working properly

I'm stuck here for 3 days and checked all forums and could not find any solution, neither an user with same problem...
    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks
    André

      Hi André,
thank you for your feedback! Issue 1 and 3 may be related to a potential regression in Veyon 4.7.4. Can you try installing 4.7.3 on the clients for testing purposes? You can find the binary packages at https://github.com/veyon/veyon/releases/tag/v4.7.3

The keyboard issue is interesting. I'll have a look at it.

        Hi Toby,

thank you very much for your feedback!
Would this regression be on the client side? So, wWould it be sufficient to install 4.7.3 on client or must both, master and client run 4.7.3?

        Thank you!

          PS:
Just downgraded client to 4.7.3 (with some difficulties - see below), and et voila it works now!
          Thank you!

difficulties: after disabling ppa, uninstall, install new version, veyon service didn't start (neither I could start it manually - service was 'masked' - There was a link from /etc/systemd/system/veyon.service to /dev/null and the 'real' veyon.service was found in /lib/systemd/system/veyon.service.
Removing the link in /etc/.../veyon.service and reboot everything worked well.

Don't know which routine left this behind....

          PPS:
Now the keyboard issue is gone! Tthe keyboard can be detached and reattached - it is still blocked! So the issue seems to be connected with the regression effect in 7.4.7...

            Hi all,
i have exactly the same problem. Unfortunately I can't downgrade to version 7.3 because my clients have Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy Jellyfish installed.
Would be nice if there would be an update soon to lock my students computers.
