@gerardo-systems You should try to install the Veyon package from our PPA: https://launchpad.net/~veyon/+archive/ubuntu/stable/ After installing you can run Veyon Configurator to configure the local installation. If you're running X11-based sessions the Veyon Server should be started automatically for user sessions.

That's an interesting feature but currently not implemented. Maybe the network discovery add-on would be useful in this case? It will however group/show all computers in the network so I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for.

I recommend installing the Debian package you can download at our website since they are more up to date and contain many bug fixes, especially regarding the server/service on Linux. Our official packages contain all components so you don't need individual packages. If you want to stick with the Debian packages, installing veyon-service is sufficient. You might need veyon-configurator if you want to configure the Veyon installation manually on the hosts. Alternatively use veyon-cli (which is part of the veyon-service package) e.g. to import a configuration file.

@le-mieux The packages provided by the Veyon project always include all components. However if you secured your Veyon installation properly (via proper authentication method and access control configuration) it should not be an issue to have Veyon Master installed on student computers as well since even if students launch it, they won't be able to access computers. Remember that even if you don't install the veyon-master package (which basically only contains the veyon-master binary) smart students will also be able to download the veyon-master binary and run it from their home folder.

@kelfka Hi, I haven't tried it myself yet, but maybe you could try opposite approach. Demostration mode should let you stream the screen from one PC (smart board) to other clients (kids)... You start the action from Master PC... kids do not have to do anything... Manual: You can use the demonstration mode (demo mode) to start a presentation. In this mode, the content of your or a student’s screen is broadcasted to all computers and displayed in real time. You can choose between a full screen and a window demo.

0 I want to install Veyon on the RPi4. I have read about Debian packages and the instructions. I had a look in my /etc/apt/sources.list and it had an entry for buster, so I added the line for Veyon Buster: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/veyon/stable/ubuntu bionic main I then tried to run the command sudo add-apt-repository ppa:veyon/stable. .

Certain Veyon features can only be disabled globally in the configuration (https://docs.veyon.io/en/latest/admin/reference.html#features) so if student workers work on computers different from the lab management staff, you could deploy a modified Veyon configuration on these computers. Restricting functionalities to certain groups however is currently not possible.

Unfortunately ChromeOS support technically would be very difficult to implement and likely only possible by rewriting Veyon as a native Android app. Linux apps on ChromeOS are running in a sandbox so even if it's possible to start the process itself, it would be impossible for the Veyon Server to access the screen data.

@tobydox said in Veyon for endless os: AFAIK Flatpak does not support systemd services (only systemd user units supported). However the Veyon Service is required to run with root privileges and interact with the systemd logind manager. So all we could package is Veyon Master which wouldn't help that much since you'd always have to install the Veyon Service (and Veyon Configurator) additionally. oh... Was about to ask the same thing about using a Snap package but I'm guessing it would be the same.

@asshadiqi Hi, the bios option is probably configured as you mention. You can check the boot order by starting each machine in bios option mode. Then you will be able to put the hard drive in priority boot. Unless the PXE option is used for some other reason...
